Checkered Flag Enterprises LLC today announced that the Indianapolis Speedrome has teamed up with Sling Shot! Technologies, a National Internet Services and Content Provider, to produce the upcoming 27th Annual World Figure 8 Championship race to be held September 4-6, 2003 at the Indianapolis Speedrome. "We have a crew of trained professionals with over 6 cameras that will cover this great event. We also will be implementing the use of in car cameras to catch the exciting action from the drivers view!" said Sling Shot! president Lance Charette. Sling Shot! Technologies is a vertically integrated company which designs, develops and implements media presentations and products for us in Internet and Intranet environments. Sling Shot! Technologies will produce the World Figure 8 Championships in it's entirety to include pre and post race highlights into a video which will be made available over the internet for purchase in both VHS and DVD formats. The Indianapolis Speedrome Speedway has been the home of exciting automobile racing since 1941. In 1997, under new ownership of the Cohen family, the Speedrome began it's 54th season of bringing Stock Car, Midget and Legend Car Racing to Indianapolis.

The Speedrome was founded in 1941 by the Sexton family and remained under their ownership until 1974. The fifth of a mile oval track featured mainly midget car until 1951, when exciting Figure 8 racing was introduced. Some of auto racing's greatest drivers have raced at the Speedrome including A.J. Foyt, Darrell Waltrip, John Andretti, Johnny Rutherford, Lloyd Ruby, Gary Bettenhausen, Mel Kenyon and Bobby Allision.
